Green played defence in the \u003c\/span\u003eNational Hockey League\u003cspan\u003e (NHL) for the \u003c\/span\u003eBoston Bruins\u003cspan\u003e and in the \u003c\/span\u003eWorld Hockey Association\u003cspan\u003e (WHA) for the \u003c\/span\u003eNew England Whalers\u003cspan\u003e and \u003c\/span\u003eWinnipeg Jets\u003cspan\u003e, and was noted for his physical play; he won two \u003c\/span\u003eStanley Cups\u003cspan\u003e and three \u003c\/span\u003eAvco World Trophys\u003cspan\u003e for a total of five league championships; Green is one of just seven players in the WHA to win the Avco Trophy three times and he was the first player to win Avco Cups with multiple teams.
